Coach Education Program
Recently, highly successful coach education sessions were held at SBCC’s base in Melbourne. Tailored programs, designed to meet the needs of the Selangor Cricket Association in Malaysia and the President of the Swaziland Cricket Board, provided a great example of what is available to those interested in coach education.
Coaching presenters included Test players – Merv Hughes, Graham Yallop, and Ray Bright, and other former Australian and State players. Shaun Brown (Melbourne’s leading private coach), with over 30 years experience will have a big role in the success of the program.
The academy “C.E” programme is world class with a committed team of presenters and a uniquely Australian perspective.
- Case study- Salangor cricket Association ( Malaysia )
The Selangor Cricket Association participated in an extensive 70-hour face-to-face instruction course, which was designed to improve their coaching methods for elite youth players. Here’s an overview of the program:
- Duration: 70 hours of instruction, with 15 hours of practical coaching experience.
- Assessment: 3 written tests for coaches to assess their learning and progress.
Focus Areas for the Program:
- High-Performance Coaching: Focusing on coaching young elite players at various age levels (U/15, U/17, U/19).
- Coaching Tools: Learn the effective use of tools like the Dartfish computer program to analyze player performance.
- School-Based Programs: Coaches will learn how to implement structured school-based programs, drawing inspiration from Australian school cricket models.
- Coaching for Female Players: Basic-level coaching skills for female players, helping grow the game at the grassroots level.
- Facilities & Coaching Venues Used:
Clever Cricket: A purpose-built indoor cricket center, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to support technical training.
Ivanhoe Recreation Centre: For gym sessions to develop physical fitness alongside cricket skills.
Lexus Centre: Offering a viewing of a VIS session, where elite Australian players train.

Pricing & Customization:
As all programs are tailored to suit each international group and their specific needs, pricing is determined based on the following factors:
- Number of days and nights the visitors will need accommodation.
- Number of coaches attending, and the rooms required for accommodation.
- Number of face-to-face sessions required with general staff and ex-Test players.
- Customization of coaching sessions based on the needs of the group.
Important Notes:
Food and drink are not provided at the Academy. However, past groups have utilized the self-catering facilities at University Mews, with a daily allowance provided by the organizing association.
