Proof of vaccination
It is said that getting the Covid19 vaccine is the best Defence against the virus to keep yourself safe and others around you. Many countries require proof of vaccination before entering their borders, it is a good idea to have a hard and electronic copy of your vaccination status.
Masks
Masks are required on all airlines, regardless of your vaccination status. It has been proven repeatedly that a face mask is one key way to stopping/reducing the spread of any airborne virus.
At home Covid tests
Most countries are requiring that you have proof of a negative COVID test result to enter, it is a good idea to have a self-kit with you even if your destination doesn’t require it. Have a kit ready in the off chance you develop symptoms or if you are visiting vulnerable people, it is peace of mind to know.
Hand soap, sanitiser, and wipes
Travelling exposes you to tons of germs, viruses, and bacteria even before COVID. Get into the healthy habits of washing your hands regularly, using hand sanitiser and protecting yourself from unnecessary infections.
Disinfectant wipes
Various Dr’s have said that you are not likely to acquire COVID19 from the surface but it is a good idea to have some disinfectant wipes with you. So that you are prepared for any situation, the aircraft food tray, handrails or even around your seat.
Be sure to clean your phone and handheld belongings as well, you would be surprised how dirty it actually gets.
Ziplock bags
Try to keep your clean/unused masks and essential items in a zip lock bag to avoid contamination, be sure to take some extra bags to dispose of used masks while travelling.
Reusable cutlery, straws, and water bottle
Most food places have pretty strict hygiene measures in place now, but you might not feel comfortable with the communal cutlery. By taking your own reusable cutlery straws and water bottle you are reducing the chance of infection.
Personal thermometer
An infrared digital thermometer is a popular choice and offers peace of mind, checking and monitoring your temp regularly can give you an indication of your body’s changes.
How to keep “Covid” safe at an airport
Airports are especially risky, the lines at security, boarding gates, and the plane due to the proximity of groups of people.
Be sure to always wear your masks, keep as much of a distance between you and other people as you can. Sanitize your hands regularly
Airlines and the whole travel industry have ramped up their COVID19 protocols, some airlines have introduced a disinfectant spray that is sprayed throughout the plane during and after the flight.
Even know covid is not transmitted through touch, be diligent in your own safety, don’t assume that the plane has been professionally cleaned. Once you arrive at your seat use your own disinfectant wipes on your food tray, seat belt, armrest, air vent, window shade and remote for the entertainment system.
The thought of sitting in a confined space with a few hundred other people doesn’t sound very comfortable but rest assured that most airlines have introduced air filtration systems, disinfecting systems and are requiring facemasks to reduce the spread of infection.
